Blondie, really good points. Try telling someone that humans only started eating meat sometime around 2500 BCE without mentioning the flood.
I would suspect that even the average JW would find it hard to believe.
jws seem to firmly believe that before the flood mankind eas vegan or at least vegetarian.. however, in gen 1:24,25 it says that god created livestock (domestic animals) and beasts of the eart (wild beasts).. why would adam and eve need livestock if they were vegan and naked?
wouldn't need wool or hide for clothing, nor meat for food.
possibly for dairy products only?

If you believe the garden of eden was a real place - was it a peaceful place where all creation lived in harmony?
Did lions have big teeth so that when they smiled at the antelopes they would appear friendlier?
sea breeze: @nicolau,i stated my case rather succiently, which you failed to address.
if you have a better solution to the problem of evil than what jesus offers, then why don't you present that in a new topic?.
pathetic diversion.
If anyone is honest enough to look dispassionately at the universe, very quickly you realise that energy is constantly changing, flowing from state to state.
Life on this planet is the same. Everything around us wants to take our energy for itself, just like we do with animals and plants that sustain us. Eventually we give up the energy we have and it changes state and becomes something else.
We don't get our energy back. That's a man-made myth to help us cope with the reality of existence.
reading about jw.org rules changes these days gives me a sad observation.. everything what "is" today, can be gone tomorrow.. that makes it all worthless.
you were an elder, searching for evidence, and proof to df a person.
because he or she was not humble enough.
JW's have no deeply held convictions. Their most cherished beliefs are subject to change according to whatever the next watchtower says.
republicans want to make a law that forbids ‘uncontested divorce”.
they based this on this scripture.. matthew 19. is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?”.
4 “haven’t you read,” jesus replied, “that at the beginning the creator ‘made them male and female,’and said, ‘for this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’ so they are no longer two, but one flesh.
Hi Liam, that's an interesting story.
Here is some crude advice I once heard;
If it flys, floats or f*cks - rent it.
the last two seem very young.. will there be any further new gb members or will they all die off?.
i still remember when tony morris and a few other joined many were disappointed thinking the current crop would be the last.
.
I saw something on social media the other day that pointed out that 1971 to 1918 is the same amount of time as 1971 to 2024.
Take a moment and let that sink in.

Another good article about the Norway verdict.(Apologies if already posted)
did i misinterpret something or read something wrong?.
did the gb say recently that they are to be dead or pulled out of earthly existence before the great tribulation?.
if so, can someone point me to jw literature or a thread on this topic?.
When this change was made,I thought it might have been a way for the GB to solve the overlapping generation problem.
By removing the need for Armageddon to arrive before the anointed were gone, they could claim that the generation of anointed were still alive to witness the start of the great tribulation and be in heaven, ready to rumble, just in time for Armageddon
This could have allowed them to declare the start of the great tribulation and prolong it indefinitely, and, maybe buy themselves more time by keeping JW's in a heightened state of expectation. It would also remove the need to appoint ever younger men as GB members and use helpers instead.
Eventually, years later, when hardly anyone is alive that remembers 1914, they could reveal 'new light' in the form of a Christian death metal video, featuring an A.I. version of Stephen Lett, and start all over again.
both political and religious true believers often distinguish themselves by their limitless arrogance towards people who dare hold different opinions from them.
every thing has to be done on their terms; people who think differently cant expect to have the same rights as those who consider themselves true believers.
in this way a elite is created a kind of spiritual master race.
The GB talks about 'false prophets of deception' and the need for them to die.
And yet:

Jehovah's Witnesses is the only religious group to take legal action against the commission.
